In the 21 years since Motorpoint opened their first store in Derby, they have become the largest independent vehicle retailer in the United Kingdom. They now need more extensive information on how their marketing campaigns affect customer traffic and engagement, and so Retail Sensing have installed video vehicle-sensing systems at each store.
Their new set-up counts how many visitors drive into each forecourt. It shows trends over time as well as real-time figures, and calculates customer conversion rates.
As always we offered a free trial so that Motorpoint could confirm that the system worked for them before rolling it out across all stores.
Motorpoint can now accurately compare the performance of stores in different regions, and analyse how their various advertising strategies performed. Acting on this information is helping them improve both customer service and sales.
Overhead cameras at the entrances to the forecourts are linked to Retail Sensing vehicle counting units. These detect and count vehicles in each direction over a selected time period – every hour say. Communicating securely over the internet, data is available in web browsers.
The traffic sensors analyse the video stream and count the vehicles. Apart from during set-up, no video is recorded: the only data accessible are the counts and the business analytics. Nobody is identified and privacy is protected.
