A new used-car showroom has opened in Manchester, and they are using a Retail Sensing system to count how many potential customers drive into their forecourt.
The newest branch of Motorpoint, the UK’s leading independent car retailer, opened this Easter.
Overhead cameras at the entrances to the forecourts are linked to Retail Sensing vehicle counting units. These detect and count vehicles in each direction over a selected time period – every hour say. Communicating securely over the internet, data is securely available in web browsers and smart phone apps.
The traffic sensors analyse the video stream and count the vehicles. Apart from during set-up, no video is recorded: the only data accessible are the counts and the business analytics. Nobody is identified and privacy is protected.
