New outdoor adventure park counts visitors and monitors occupancy

Ironbridge Outdoor Adventure playground installs Retail Sensing counting technology

The exciting Outdoor Adventure park at the Ironbridge Gorge Museums opened just this year. UNESCO designated the Ironbridge Gorge a World Heritage Site in 1986, for its unique industrial revolution roots.  Since then approximately 16 million tourists have visited the gorge and its museums, and our dashboard is now monitoring how many visit the Outdoor Adventure park.

R-Com Consulting worked with the Ironbridge Gorge Museums to install the counting system and set up the live reporting.

We are delighted to have worked with R-Com Consulting on a visitor counting device for our brand-new Outdoor Adventure. It has allowed us to capacity manage the facility and given us the function to forward plan staff rotas based on predicted demand. Duncan and the team have been great throughout the process and we’re really pleased with the analytics we’re getting through their dashboard.

Everyone entering the adventure park is counted in and out. The on-line dashboard shows current occupancy. Delving into the historical counts shows busy periods and helps predict periods when more staff will be needed. Charts show how many people visit the park each hour, day, week and month.

How it works

Our video analytics software analyses the stream from a CCTV camera at the entrance and anonymously counts how many people enter and leave the park and at what times. GDPR compliant – the camera images are processed and interpreted locally and not transmitted to the remote server. Nobody is identified and privacy is protected. Data is transferred via the cloud to the dashboard, which displays the information needed. The system is extremely accurate, whatever the weather.

Retail Sensing

Retail Sensing manufacture the Video Turnstile people counting, vehicle sensing and smart city equipment. Our systems not only measure footfall and traffic, but monitor queues, display occupancy, track shoppers around stores, show heat maps of most visited areas, record passenger numbers, count pedestrians and provide retail intelligence and key performance indicators.
